Society for Strings

The Society for Strings, Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) public charity.

The mission of the Society for Strings is to encourage, promote, and aid the artistic development of musicians on stringed instruments, specifically through a summer school devoted exclusively to instruction for stringed instruments, and to promote to the general public an appreciation of the playing of stringed instruments.

The Meadowmount School of Music is a program of the Society for Strings. The Society for Strings is generally referred to as Meadowmount School of Music which is it’s ‘doing business as’ DBA name.

The Society of Strings was incorporated in 1952 and the Articles of Incorporation were signed by several notable individuals; Efrem Zimbalist, Curtis Institute of Music, William Schuman, Juilliard School of Music, Mark Schubart, Juilliard School of Music, Samuel Dushkin, Dorothy Delay, and Ivan Galamian.

Today, the Society for Strings is governed by a Board of Directors which has oversight and responsibility for Meadowmount School of Music, its finances, artistic reputation, and strategic direction.
