Taketo Kataoka

Pianist Taketo Kataoka has performed internationally as soloist, chamber musician and vocal pianist. He frequently appears at major venues such as Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall. He also has given recitals in the United States, Portugal, Spain, Mexico, South Korea, and Japan.

Mr. Kataoka received first prize in the Suganami Piano Competition and Machida National Piano Competition, second prize in the VERÃO CLÁSSICO International Music Academy Classical Summer Awards among others. He was also a prizewinner in the JPTA Piano Auditions.

As an enthusiastic chamber musician, he works closely with faculty in major conservatories such as the Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music, Mannes School of Music and the City University of New York. He also serves as a collaborative pianist at Meadowmount School of Music.

Born in Tokyo, Japan, Mr. Kataoka currently resides in New York City and serves as a staff pianist at the Juilliard School. He received a Master of Music in Collaborative Piano at the Juilliard School, and a Bachelor of Arts in Piano Performance at Tokyo University of the Arts. He also attended the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University.
