Dexter Jackson
Dexter N. Jackson is a dedicated educator, community organizer, and accomplished artist with over 15 years of experience in youth development and 30 years as a vocalist. A passionate advocate for education and community empowerment, Dexter has significantly impacted his community by curating over 50 concerts and 30 festivals, delivering more than 300 solo performances, and raising over $1.5 million for local nonprofits and community organizations. In 2022, he founded The Yellow Door Arts Collective, fostering creative innovation and community engagement through unique artistic events. He also leads the Levitt Amp concert series, providing free performances to the historic Scotlandville community in Louisiana. His commitment to social justice is recognized by the 2021 Martin Luther King Ember Award, and he has completed the prestigious leadership programs with the Urban League of Louisiana, the Baton Rouge Area Foundation, and the Urban Leadership Development Initiative. He has held leadership positions in multiple organizations including Arts Director at Adirondack camp and Executive Director of Humanities Amped. In his personal time, Dexter enjoys reading, music production, and embracing his Louisiana culinary heritage. He is enthusiastic about bringing his skills and experience to the Meadowmount School of Music team and students.
