HEALTH SERVICES

Health Services are available on-campus 24/7. Our Meadowmount Nurse is centrally located in the Main House Health Center. A health clinic, hospital, and emergency room are located in Elizabethtown, 6 miles from campus.

INSURANCE

It is highly recommended that all students carry medical insurance. International students should purchase medical travel insurance specifically for their time of study at Meadowmount. Students are responsible for their medical bills and all travel costs to and from medical appointments.

MEDICAL POLICY

The Meadowmount School of Music is required to obtain a permit to operate from the New York State Department of Health. We are required to follow state regulations and are subject to their inspections.

Upon arrival, students must check-in with the school nurse who reviews all health forms.

No on-campus or off-campus student will be registered without a fully completed health form including documentation of immunizations. A physical exam is not required.

In compliance with the New York State Department of Health, students under the age of 18 may not have medication of any kind in their room, on their person, hidden on campus or in the dormitory at any time; including prescription and non-prescription medication, sunscreen, bugspray, vitamins, nutritional supplements, OTC pain relievers, sleeping aids, topical lotions, cough drops, lozenges, etc. All must be given to the Campus Nurse during check-in time upon arrival.

SPECIAL NEEDS

Students with food allergies must disclose this information on their enrollment medical forms. Our kitchen staff is notified of these needs. Due to the large volume of food preparation, the kitchen is unable to prepare special foods for individual dietary needs, but works with students to have a range of food available to meet dietary needs.

SMOKE-FREE CAMPUS

Meadowmount is a smoke-free campus. Students under the age of 18 are not permitted to smoke or use tobacco products of any kind including but not limited to chewing tobacco, electronic cigarettes, etc. Students age 18 and older may smoke cigarettes or electronic cigarettes only in designated smoking areas and use the receptacles provided for cigarette disposal. No walking through campus or buildings using electronic cigarettes or products of any kind.
